What it is

The puppy vibrates its way across the floor, and the house notices where it goes. Bring it near the bath, the bowl or the bed and a different sound answers, so the pretend play has something pushing back at it rather than running entirely on the child's imagination.

The chore cards are the part that keeps it in rotation. Feed, bathe, settle to sleep — a sequence small enough for a three-year-old to finish and repeat, which is how a pet care set ends up being about daily routines rather than about a plastic dog.

It folds into itself. The whole playset packs back into the doghouse, which means it survives a car journey and does not colonise a shelf. We will be straight with you on one thing: this is our most divisive product on ratings, and the complaints are about the puppy's walking motor rather than about the house.

★★★★★5 out of 5Endless giggles for my toddler
If you are looking for an affordable way to keep a toddler entertained, this interactive music toy is a winner. For just 10 dollars, you really can’t go wrong! The Highlights: Hilarious Fun: The sounds are really cute, but for some strange reason, my daughter is obsessed with the toilet sound effect. She giggles constantly every time she puts the little dog on the toilet. It’s her absolute favorite part! The Play Pen: It comes with a little pen that the dog runs around in, which she really likes. It keeps the action contained in one spot so she can sit and watch it. Toddler-Approved Movement: To be fair, the toy basically just vibrates in circles, but since she’s 2, she doesn't mind at all—she finds it fascinating. Overall: It’s simple, but it keeps her busy and laughing. It’s rare to find a toy at this price point that provides this much entertainment. Definitely worth the purchase!

It’s durable. My 2 and 4 year old play with it often. It’s really loud and the dog stopped working after a day. There is a battery but of course it’s not a common one laying around my house. So now the dog doesn’t run around the track which is half the size of the item. The vibration was really loud too. Don’t need it to vibrate on anything and it still signals the other sounds. It’s a meh kind of a toy.

★★★★★5 out of 5Well done and good value.
nicknack Interactive Music Toy for Toddlers- This was cute for my niece. She's 4 and has really gotten into the mini style toys. This was a hit with her. I like that they include the dog along with all the settings. The kit is also well-designed to keep everything together. It's gotten a good amount of use, and she's had a lot of fun with it. The sounds are ok, but it does get a little repetitive, though my niece doesn't seem to think that. The functionality is good. There isn't wasted space as each part is a different setting for the dog. The price point is also very fair for what you get. I suspect this will hold up better than many other toys they have. I was impressed with that part as well. Overall, this went over well, and I would get another if they come out with a different character/theme.

★★★☆☆3 out of 5Cute Concept, But Not as Engaging as Expected
The idea behind this toy is really cute, and my child was excited to play with the little puppy and dog house. The sounds, songs, and pretend-play features are fun at first, and the carrying case design makes it easy to store and take on the go. However, after the initial excitement wore off, the toy didn't hold my child's attention for very long. Some of the interactive features felt repetitive, and there wasn't as much variety in the play experience as I expected based on the product description. The toy works as intended, but it felt a little limited for the price. That said, it's still a cute toy and would probably be best suited for younger children who enjoy simple pretend play. Overall, it's a decent product, but I was hoping for a bit more interaction and replay value.

★★★★☆4 out of 5Pros and cons
When I first saw this, I thought of the toys I played with as a child, the Littlest Pet Shop... However, the way it works is much different than I expected. When you open up the little doghouse, it has a few main sections that the dog can interact with: a track "outside," a food bowl, a dog bed, a toilet and sink, and a bathtub. Each area is set off when the dog is near. The sound effects are cute and make it a fun toy for kiddos who love dogs, and for kiddos who are just beginning to learn how to take care of animals (and themselves), and establish care routines. The mechanism works because the dog, when turned on, vibrates, and that vibration sets off the play stations. My issue is that the button battery in the dog dies very quickly. So, if you have a child like mine, who has a tendency to leave toys on, the dog will run out of battery fast. The doghouse has a mechanism that shuts off after some time of inactivity, the dog does not. In addition, when I replaced the battery in the dog, the vibrataion was not as strong, or almost nonexistent. At first, I thought that would essentially stop triggering each station. I thought if the dog doesn't work, the doghouse won't work. But it still did, so there is some kind of backup mechanism where it still works. I don't know how. Another complaint that I have, like with most children's toys, is that they're SO loud! The doghouse is pretty loud, but tolerable, but the dog, when vibrating at FULL capacity, was annoyingly loud as it bumped into all the areas in the doghouse. While I'm sad for my daughter that the dog doesn't vibrate as much (if at all most of the time), and therefore does not "walk" around, I do not miss the loudness from it! Finally, the cards that show the different routines and responsibilities to take care of the dog are just that, cards that you put in the window on the top of the doghouse. They don't do anything else, are not interactive in any way. If your kiddo can read, it might be more useful. If not, it doesn't really add much to the experience unless you keep reading it to them and explain what it means. Overall, it's a cute toy with a lot of potential, but I honestly do not agree with its price point.

★★★★★5 out of 5Kids like taking care of the puppy.
Smaller kids really like playing with it. It is pretty well made, I think it will actually survive quite well. It’s really a basic fun toy any kid could play with. Even if the puppies batteries run out and he stops wiggling the other sensors in the play house can still tell when kids put him there and it will play sounds or music. Just a cute toy and not like the usual ones you find in stores. It does kind of walk kids through the basics of their day too with the puppy as he does things like take a bath or nap. The only thing that could have been better is the puppy does come with small pre installed batteries, I wish a pull tab was inserted so they maybe lasted longer but that’s okay they are replaceable.
